Mirar el Jazz con ojos ZEN

Esta fabulosa muestra de Paul Quintero nos permite apreciar la vida, movimientos y estructura del Jazz a través del dibujo Zen. Unos trazos de tinta, unos movimientos con color pintados en un estado de “no pensamiento” (mu shin) propio del Zen le dan vida a los gestos se este genero musical igualmente libre y espontáneo. Por eso Jazz y Zen se funden armoniosamente en este arte singular.

Este ha sido un gran reto. Es muy difícil dibujar la emoción, los gestos del Jazz. Su idioma musical único en el mundo necesita de una gran pasión para poder disfrutarse. Lo mismo piensan los pinceles: Cómo hacer para representar el Jazz? – el dibujo Zen facilita las cosas pues no es un dibujo en el cual intervenga el intelecto. Dejarse ir es la clave. Por primera vez el arte Zen se une al jazz para producir tan bella y singular muestra de Paul Quintero.  El pincel, la tinta y la acuarela se desplazan sin limitaciones sobre el papel... y presto!...surge el JAZZen!

An insight into Jazz from a ZEN perspective

This exciting exhibition of renowned artist Paul Quintero permits us to appreciate the inner life, movements, and structure of Jazz. By means of simple ink strokes, this Zen artist grasps the real thing when it comes to jazz. Please feel free to taste the passion hidden under each drawing and  make them part of your home decoration.

Drawing a jazz scene is not something simple.To draw the emotion of the soul of a musician is not easy. Every gesture has to be captured “a la prima”, so there is no possibility to erase what one has traced on paper. Zen traces, far from the rigid mental thinking, are free to fly on the surface of the paper and it is then when the total “jazz thing” is captured. Jazz and Zen are not mental processes. Mind must be put aside. One plays an instrument or handles a brush in a state of mu shin (no mind). That is to say that the everyday thinking mind has nothing to do with these two manifestations. The enlightened mind appears and takes control of the musical instruments and the brush and a burst of total originality appears! This is true Zen Spirit.
